Between Wood and Water

This book I made over the course of a research project into the bogs of Finland. A country that was over 30% bogland till forestry ate into it, and which is now restoring their wetlands progressively. I stayed in a cabin by a lake deep in the forest and went in search of the bog, only to be thwarted. Another blanket descended, deep snow. The trip became a consideration of ritual and the elements, of the dialogue of sorts between the forest and the bog and the water.

I had help on this project, ever grateful to Clare Gallagher, Terhi Asumaniemi and, in particular, Markku Saarinen, for their invaluable aid on the logistics of this trip.
